Need Help?
Are you having issues with your child's bus? Is the driver late, never arrived? Does your child have extended time on the bus and you would like to make adjustments? Do you need assistance with reimbursements? You've come to the right place. Let us assist in making the information more accessible.

Reimbursement Assistance
The following students may be eligible for transportation reimbursement if their bus does not show up, or if a bus vendor or DOE reported services were unavailable after a route start date:
Student is in temporary housing and has busing service
Student is in foster care and has busing service
Student transferred from temporary housing to permanent housing and has busing service
Student is mandated for transportation based on IEP, 504 or impartial hearing order and has busing service
Note: DOE cannot reimburse tips or student no-show.

Student Metro Cards
Schools distribute student MetroCards to eligible students at the beginning of each semester, and as needed during the school year.
You can immediately use your student MetroCard at every subway and local bus. Student MetroCards cannot be used on express buses.
Student MetroCards are:

Different from “regular” MetroCards sold to the public

Good for three trips each school day; allowing a student to travel to school, from school to an after-school activity, and from that activity to home

Only to be used by the student to whom it was assigned

For traveling to and from school and school-related activities between 5:30AM and 8:30PM
-
For traveling only on days when the student’s school is open for classes
-
Valid for one school semester

Alternative to Busing:
District 75 Travel Training Program
The District 75 Travel Training Program was founded by Peggy Groce in 1970, who directed the program until 2018. For the past fifty years, instructors have been teaching students with all types of disabilities except for blindness and low vision to travel alone on the bus or subway. The D75 program is the largest and longest-running in the country and has served as a model for other travel training programs around the country, including Easter Seals Project Action. Travel training fosters independence and can lead to increased opportunities for employment and is a crucial part of education for young people with disabilities.
